First Launch Setup Guide

What to expect when you run Junior for the first time

⚠️ Important: Always Check the 2FA Box

When you first launch Junior, always check the "2FA" checkbox — even if you don't think you have two-factor authentication enabled on LinkedIn. This ensures Junior opens a Chrome window where you can log in to LinkedIn directly. It only takes 30 seconds and you only need to do it once.

📋 Before You Start

  • Make sure Junior is installed on your computer (macOS users: see install help)
  • Have your LinkedIn login credentials ready
  • If you use two-factor authentication, have your 2FA device handy (phone, authenticator app, etc.)
  • Make sure Google Chrome is installed on your computer

🔧 Step-by-Step First Run

Step 1: Launch Junior

Open Junior from your desktop, Start menu (Windows), or Applications folder (macOS).

Step 2: Check the "2FA" Checkbox

In the Junior app window, find and check the "2FA" checkbox. We recommend always checking this box, even if you're not sure whether you have two-factor authentication enabled on LinkedIn.

Step 3: Click "Start Automation"

Click the "Start Automation" button. Junior will automatically open a Chrome browser window.

Step 4: Log In to LinkedIn

A Chrome window will open showing the LinkedIn login page. Log in as you normally would — enter your email and password, and complete two-factor authentication if prompted.

Step 5: Wait for Junior to Close the Window

Once you've logged in successfully, Junior will automatically close the Chrome window. Do not close it yourself — let Junior handle it. This confirms your login was successful.

Step 6: You're All Set!

Junior saves your session cookies and will not ask you to log in again on future runs. From now on, just launch Junior and click "Start Automation" — it will use your saved session automatically.

💡 Good to Know

  • The login is only required once per device — subsequent runs use saved session cookies
  • If the Chrome window doesn't appear, make sure Google Chrome is installed on your computer, then try again
  • If you accidentally close the Chrome window, just click "Start Automation" again
  • If you change your LinkedIn password, you'll need to log in once more using the same process

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Junior open a Chrome window?

Junior needs a real browser session to authenticate securely with LinkedIn. Your credentials go directly to LinkedIn's login page, not to Junior. This is the safest way to connect your account.

Does Junior store my password?

No. Junior only stores session cookies, which LinkedIn uses to keep you logged in. Your password is never saved by Junior.

Do I need to do this every time?

No — only once. After the first login, Junior remembers your session and you can start automating immediately on future runs.
